About Us

MEMA stands for Mazingira, Elimu, Maji, na Afya it is a registered as a non-profit association represents voluntary provision of education of environmental protection, safe and clean water campaign to people in needs like kids and students, personal hygiene and the likes. It had an origin in Tanzania particularly Manyara Region in Babati District.

OUR VISION

-The nature conservancy to leave a sustainable world for future generation, a world in which every child attains right to excellent education, survival protection, development and participation in every aspect pertaining their rights and needs.

 OUR MISSION

-Preserving natural system on which all life depends, inspire lifelong learning to strengthen children skills and technical abilities, bringing clean and safe drinking water to children and students at school within conducive environment.

OUR IMPACT TO THE SOCIETY

60% reduction of stomach related diseases in school-age children

MEMA brought clean water by donating ceramic water filters to obtain safe and clean water for drinking within 12 school including Endalah primary school, Endaw primary school, Endabok primary school, Qameyu primary school, Lomhong primary school, Dareda vtc, Qameyu secondary school, Umagi secondary school, just to mention few in Manyara region .This led to a 40% reduction of stomach related diseases in school-age children and a subsequent increase in school attendance.

15% increase in girls and boys in technical college enrollment

MEMA sponsors girls and boys technical education , including paying study fees, training and teaching materials, a private stall with shower, access to menstrual pads, an incinerator, and an enclosed area to wash and dry clothes if necessary. These facilities enabled girls and boys to attend school during their menstrual periods leading to higher enrollment in technical college as they dramatically increased their performance in studies. This has increased number of girls with self-employment to earn life and sustainability. For example there about 7 girls have completed their studies on sewing, 13 of them are still studying. About 15 boys are undertaking vocational and technical education in courses like carpentry, welding and other course. All these help youth to earn life after completing their studies.

80% increase in the use of washable and durable pads and nappies

MEMA has increased the number of girls using washable and durable pads, this has reduced the use of disposable sanitation pads which has been jeopardy to the surrounding environment and living organism. This facilitates environmental protection.

70% reduction of wood fuel.

MEMA has discovered the use of wood saving stove which consume few wood in which out of 10 pieces of only 3 pieces can be used to cook, while at the beginning the peoples used three stones cooking which consumed a lot of woods. This has also reduced the amount of smokes that affects women eyes and lungs.

MEMA has been influencing the indigenous people to use solar cooker in order to reduce the use of charcoal and wood fuel during sunny day. This is very useful device that help in environmental conservation because it does not provide any kind of smoke.
